City Council Public Hearing Agenda
The meeting commenced with a public hearing agenda, including an ordinance regarding the annexation of 21.77 and 18 acres of Magazine Street, which was tabled pending further resolution. Subsequent to a brief prayer and pledge of allegiance, the regular session involved council nominations for president and vice president. Key discussions centered on the introduction of several ordinances requiring future public hearings. These introductions included a request to rezone property on Magazine Street, a revocation of city right-of-way for property expansion near East Morris Avenue, a rezoning request for property on South Oak Street to expand a behavioral health center (which also involved revoking abandoned city rights-of-way on the same property), and an introduction for a major subdivision on Hewitt Road. Finally, the council introduced resolutions to approve appointments to the Downtown Development District board for Mary Ma Gau (Chamber of Commerce seat), Evan Singer (largest assessed property owner seat), Todd Don (Mayor's seat), and Ryan Alfett (East Side business and property owners seat). An ordinance amending general definitions in the unified development code was also introduced.
